A toothache reveals many things, considering its cause and time. Sudden pains are usually caused by an external stimulus, it can be chocolate, a mug of cold beer, vice-cream... These pains go as quick as they come, but have our tooth filled as soon as possible!
Sometimes it is not a decayed tooth that causes troubles, but the abrasion of the tooth-neck. The most frequent cause for this is the strong and incorrect teeth-cleaning technique. Learn the correct teeth-cleaning procedure and if the pain does not decrease, go to your dentist, because such teeth have to be filled as well.
If the pain does not go so quick and even the nights are troubled, then the decay reached the pulp. Such times it is worth taking an analgesic, but it suggested taking one only in every six hours.
If pain appears by only cold stimulus or pressing, the trouble is much more serious.
The inflammation is in an advanced state, then there is a risk of the tooth next to the gum to swell up thoroughly. If we apply cold compress in the first hours, the size of the tumescence and the pain can be greatly decreased. Some people bear even these pains without dental intervention, but in that stage there is a great risk of dental focus, which may cause many diseases.
